Jessica Norwood is a social entrepreneur who champions organizations, people, ideas and products that develop the capacity to create change in traditionally marginalized communities. With a passion for supporting community asset development, Jessica works with people to connect them to national, state, and local institutions in order to mobilize their efforts and strengthen their community’s power. Working in battleground states, Norwood began her advocacy work as a senior manager in varied political organization. Her  non-traditional education methods and fundraising have been popularized in the Washington Post, CNN and Congressional Quarterly. 

As a consultant and small business owner, Jessica blends her belief in community wisdom with the belief that socially good enterprises are an important investment in creating community wealth. Her work around Impact Investing, which brings investors from across the spectrum who are attracted to the idea of investing for a financial and social return, is garnering attention around the country. 

Norwood is a member of the board of directors of the Highlander Research and Education Center. She is a former Emerging Leaders Fellow at the Stanford School of Public Policy at Duke University and the Political Power Fellow with the Hip Hop Archive at the Du Bois Institute at Harvard University.
